Every six months, which is twice as often as your extinguishers. That applies to hood systems and dry chemical systems both.

Do I still need fire extinguishers if I have a hood system?

Yes. Every commercial kitchen needs at least one ABC extinguisher and one 6 liter Class K unit in addition to the hood system. We handle both on the same visit.

What does the fire marshal check on a suppression system?

The tag and the report. In most cases they check the tag date and the report that was submitted. A system that was already written up needs a new tag and a report showing what was fixed.

What happens if something on the system needs to be corrected?

We tell you what it is and what it costs before we do the work. Parts we have to order turn into a return trip, usually two to three weeks out, and the report shows what was found either way.
